Leather Wine Tote Acrylic Template Set
Note: Where/when listed, please DO NOT select "Misc. In-Store Only" for online orders. This is a catch-all option, and is reserved for miscellaneous items only available in one of our retail stores.
Create a durable leather wine carrier with a reusable acrylic template set designed for accurate layout, consistent cutting, and repeatable construction.
The Leather Wine Tote Acrylic Template Set includes the five pattern pieces needed to make the Odin Leather Goods–style wine tote. The finished design creates a refined, reusable carrier for presenting, gifting, or transporting a standard wine bottle.
More than a single-project pattern, this template introduces makers to a useful three-piece gusset construction method. Once understood, the same general technique can be adapted when developing other structured leather goods, including cases, boxes, briefcases, and small bags.
Use the templates with a pencil, pen, scratch awl, or other marking tool to transfer the pattern onto your leather. The durable acrylic edges may also be carefully used alongside sharp leather knives and cutting tools.
What’s Included
This set includes five precision-cut acrylic pattern pieces used to construct the wine tote.
Relevant information is permanently laser-engraved directly onto the templates where applicable, including:
- Pattern-piece identification
- Alignment references
- Hole-punch locations and sizes
- Fold and assembly locations
- Skiving guidance
- Hardware-placement references
- Construction notes
- Alternative design or assembly options
Review all engraved notes before cutting, punching, skiving, or assembling the leather.

Recommended Leather
We recommend approximately:
- 5/6 oz. firm vegetable-tanned leather
A high-quality vegetable-tanned leather is especially well suited to this project because the exposed edges can be beveled and burnished for a clean finish.
English bridle, harness leather, saddle skirting, or another firm vegetable-tanned leather can provide the structure needed to support the bottle and maintain the tote’s shape.
The ideal leather may vary depending on:
- The firmness and temper of the hide
- The amount of structure desired
- Whether the leather will be lined
- The selected edge-finishing method
- The thickness created at gusset connections
- The hardware and closure method being used
Test the selected leather and construction method before producing multiple totes.
Learn a Versatile Gusset Technique
The pattern uses a three-piece gusset that creates structure while remaining relatively straightforward to measure and assemble.
Learning this construction method can help makers understand how gussets can be adapted to add depth and volume to other projects, including:
- Briefcases
- Structured bags
- Leather boxes
- Cases
- Tool carriers
- Small totes
- Custom bag designs
The wine tote provides a manageable project through which to practice this useful leather-bag construction technique.
Make the Design Your Own
The template establishes the critical shapes and construction geometry while leaving room to customize the finished tote with:
- Hand tooling or carving
- Stamping
- Laser engraving
- Monograms or logos
- Contrasting leather components
- Decorative stitching
- Alternative handle treatments
- Brass, copper, or nickel hardware
- Painted or burnished edges
- Corporate or event branding
This makes the pattern suitable for personal projects, handmade gifts, branded client goods, and repeatable small-batch production.
Designed for Repeatable Results
The rigid acrylic templates help you:
- Arrange the pattern efficiently on the hide
- See grain, scars, color variation, and surface character beneath the tinted acrylic
- Avoid undesirable areas before cutting
- Produce cleaner and more consistent components
- Transfer important construction marks accurately
- Maintain consistent gusset and body alignment
- Reduce repeated measuring and pattern redrawing
- Reproduce the tote for gifts, customer orders, or small-batch production
Built for Daily Workshop Use
Each Odin Leather Goods acrylic template is:
- Laser-cut from durable 1/8-inch tinted cast acrylic
- Built for frequent use in hobby and production workshops
- Transparent enough to see the leather beneath the template
- Suitable for use with pencils, pens, scratch awls, and other leather-marking tools
- Durable enough to carefully use alongside sharp leatherworking knives and cutting tools
- Permanently engraved with relevant notes, measurements, and construction markings
- Designed and made in Texas by working leathercrafters
Unlike paper or cardstock patterns, the rigid acrylic will not easily bend, distort, tear, or wear out through repeated use.
Acrylic Color
Due to changing material availability and supply lines, your template may be made from green-, blue-, or orange-tinted acrylic. Acrylic color is not selectable and may vary from the product photographs.
The color does not affect the template’s dimensions, durability, markings, or functionality.
Important Notes
This listing is for the five-piece acrylic template set only. Leather, thread, hardware, tools, bottles, finished wine totes, and other supplies are not included.
The acrylic may arrive with a removable protective film on one or both sides. Remove the film before using the templates.
Leather weights and material recommendations are starting points. Makers should adjust their materials and processes according to the leather’s temper, selected hardware, equipment, experience, and desired finished result.
